2019 Delaware Superstars in Education Award

The Delaware State Chamber of Commerce held the 2019 Superstars in Education award reception last night in Wilmington, DE. Blades Elementary School was rewarded in the amount of $10,000 for our Latino Literacy Program Project. Huge thank you to the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce and to the DuPont Grant. WOOHOO!!

Field Day

Blades Elementary students are getting excited for our upcoming field days. Don't miss out cheering your child and their class during their scheduled day. Please report to the back of the school and wait for your child's class to come outside.

Second Grade: May 15th ~ 9:00-12:00pm

Board Meeting Time Change

The Board of Education Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, 2019 will begin at 5:30 p.m. instead of the regularly scheduled time due to a schedule conflict with another district event. The meeting will be held in the Board Room at the District Office with the public session beginning at 5:30 p.m.

2019-20 District Teacher Teacher of the Year Finalists Announced

Congratulations to the three school-level finalists who will move on to the final stage for the selection of the 2019-20 District Teacher of the Year:

Laura Burke - Central ES
Lyndsey Gerstle – Blades ES
Dr. Krystal Hershey – West Seaford ES

Observations for the three finalists will be conducted as the final step in the selection process. All building-level winners will be recognized and the District TOY winner will be announced at an end-of-the-year Retirement and Teacher of the Year Celebration on June 12 at Seaford HS at 4:00pm.

School Board Candidate Forum to be Held Wednesday, April 17

The Western Sussex Branch of the DE AAUW is sponsoring a night for the community to meet the Seaford Board of Education Candidates, Mrs. Dara Laws Savage and Mr. Shawn Garrahan.

Come and hear each candidate answer prepared questions and speak to school related issues and concerns. Community members will have the opportunity to submit written questions that will be collected during the forum.

The forum will be held on Wednesday, April 17 at 7:00 pm in the Central Elementary School auditorium. Election day is Tuesday, May 14.

Kindergarten Registration 2019-2020

Any child who will turn five years of age prior to August 31 of a calendar year is eligible to begin Kindergarten during the fall of that year. Dates for the Kindergarten registration period are made available each spring for Blades Elementary School and West Seaford Elementary School.

Two-Hour Delay Monday, April 15

The Seaford School District will open schools two-hours late this morning, Monday April 15th. Breakfast will not be served today, so please provide your child with a healthy breakfast at home. For Pre-K students, there is no AM pre-k. Full-day pre-k students should arrive two-hours late. Pre-K PM students who ride a bus will arrive at school at approximately 12:30 p.m. Pre-K PM students who are dropped off by a parent or caregiver, may still arrive at their regular time.
